Mehrangarh Fort is a formidable structure that towers 125 meters above the city of Jodhpur, perched atop a perpendicular cliff. Built in 1459 by Rao Jodha, it is one of the largest and most well-preserved forts in India. The fort's massive walls are so thick and strong that they still bear the scars of cannonballs from centuries-old battles. Within the fort are several grand palaces, including the Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace), Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), and Phool Mahal (Flower Palace), each known for its opulent decoration. The fort museum is world-class, housing an extensive collection of royal palanquins, weaponry, and costumes, while the views of the blue-painted old city from its ramparts are truly unparalleled and iconic of the Blue City's landscape.
